Introduction
Your key assessment in this course is a professional development workshop. It is not due until April 10th, but this week we will spend a little time preparing for it (and taking a break from reading). First, carefully read the Professional Development Workshop Guidelines, which can be found on Blackboard under Documents --> Rubrics. When finished, please post any questions that you have in the comments of this page so that everyone can see them. I will respond to each question here as well.
Planning
In the Professional Development Workshop Guidelines, there are 8 topics to choose from and no one is permitted to have the same topic as another student (which means we need 2 original ideas). The choices are:
- BYOD
- blended learning
- collaborative tools for constructivist teaching
- fair use and copyright
- cyberbullying
- Internet addiction
- adaptive/assistive technology
- an original idea related to the course (must get approval from me)
To decide who gets which topic, please send me your first, second and third choice via email by Wednesday night, February 24th, at midnight. If you have an original idea, please explain what that is. I will do my best to get you at least one of your top 3, but if I need to I will draw a name out of a hat to decide who gets preference on a given topic. I will email you on Thursday to let you know what your topic is.
Pre-Work
In the Professional Development Workshop Guidelines, there is a section that introduces Google Sites. Please use the resources provided there to begin your Google Site for the project and divide it into the appropriate sections. That's all that is required this week. You should be set up so that for the second half of the course, you can spread the work out and fill in each page as you have time. Please post a link to your Google Site to your blog as a new post.
To sum up, read the guidelines, email me topic choices by Wednesday, and once you get your topic, create the framework of your Google Site.
